Bienvenidos/as a Candelaria
Welcome to Candelaria

We invite you to delve into legends and mysteries that Guanches discovered more than 500 years ago. Located in a volcanic region, this fishing village is in the Güímar Valley. The valley was formed when a massive landslide landed into the sea. As a result, its landscape is noted for high surrounding mountains, gentle slopes in the midlands, and a coastline full of black sand and pebbles beaches. We invite you to know its history, to stroll through its streets, and to taste its gastronomy.

A paradise not to be missed

Candelaria is just authentic itself. This coastal town is located on the south-eastern slope of Tenerife, just 20 kilometers away from Santa Cruz, the capital. To understand its origins, we have to go back to the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife, and their discovery of an image whose name, later on, was used to identify this town and who became the Patron Saint of the Archipelago. Pottery is also a legacy of the aborigines. This activity is preserved today and reminds us of our origins. The environmental uniqueness can be discovered along fifty square kilometers. It stands out for the sea, the caves, and natural beaches. Mild temperatures throughout the year allow visitors to enjoy the coastal village and a network of footpaths built by our ancestors as the only means of communication.
