WHERE TO EAT

In Candelaria there are many places to enjoy traditional, national, and international cuisine. In Candelaria, traditional cuisine is similar to that of the rest of the island; simple and nutritious, it is prepared with fresh produce. Sea products are offered in this fishing village, like tasty fish garnished with wrinkled potatoes, coriander, and paprika sauces called mojo. If you visit the midland villages, local restaurants offer dishes like goat, pig, or rabbit.
A wide range of restaurants allows visitors to enjoy regional gastronomy in bars and cafés, in baker shops, and ice-cream parlours around the municipality. Some of these establishments have been awarded with a distinction of the Spanish Integrated Tourism Quality System (SICTED) by the General Secretariat of Tourism. They offer their customers a high-quality of products and services.
The Wines

Candelaria has a wine-growing tradition. Grapes grow in the midlands, favoured by the volcanic soil that fresh trade winds moisture. White wine is mainly produced and the dominant variety is called listán blanco. However, good rosé and red wines are also found with varieties such as listán negro and negramoll mulata. These wines and varieties have the Denomination of Origin Valle de Güímar, granting the quality of their wines and elaboration processes. For further information visit: www.vinosvalleguimar.com
